Understanding SWP

A Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) is the mirror image of an SIP: instead of investing a fixed amount every month, you withdraw one — typically from a lump sum already invested — while the rest stays invested and keeps growing. It's commonly used to turn a retirement corpus into a regular monthly income.

The sustainability of an SWP comes down to a simple tension: if your withdrawal rate stays below your investment's growth rate, the corpus can in principle last indefinitely; if it doesn't, the corpus draws down and eventually runs out. This calculator shows you which side of that line your numbers fall on.
